About Molly

Hello.

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and say hello. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to explore my website and learn about this exciting project I am embarking on. As I begin this journey of creating something beautiful with your Little Artist, I thought it would be only right to give you a little insight into my world.

I am currently living and working in the city of Naarm, where I practice art, and work as a Studio Supervisor at QArt Studio and Gallery. Here, I work alongside artists living with intellectual and physical disability, mentoring them, and helping guide their art practice. This place has given me the space to use my artistic knowledge while giving me the freedom to be myself without limitations. If you are at all interested in learning about what I do… and what we do at QArt I am also very happy to answer any questions, there. I am here to talk.

I grew up in Torquay, along the beautiful Victorian coastline. Having a childhood on the coast has instilled in me a deep love and profound connection to the natural world, an affinity that continues to help shape my creative path. My weekends as a child were filled with bush walks at the back of Pt Addis, and bike rides along the Bells Beach track. This has helped shape my appreciation for the natural environment, now very much needing that regular escape from the city lifestyle, indulging in bush walks and swims in outer Melbourne. I would love to help your child also find that gentle connection and appreciation for their natural surroundings from a young age. Exploring what it means to fill your eyesight with trees and an open sky.

For the other parts of my life… they have been full and beautiful. I have spent seven years of my life dipping in and out of childcare work, having completed a Certificate III in Childcare and Education. I worked in a centre for a period of this time, where I learnt how to engage and work alongside these glorious little beans. They taught me how to be silly and how to appreciate all the small things. Watching them discover and learn every new element of life, encouraged me to take a step back and revisit all these small moments also. Small to us… massive to them. Alongside this work, I studied my Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT, where I majored in Printmaking. Before that I also spent time completing my Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Visual Art… once I started, I couldn’t stop. I have always loved and appreciated art. Influenced and inspired by the way colour, shadow, tone, and shape is perceived by the other. The way someone can turn something so mundane into something so inspiring, much like children can. Other little bits of my life have been filled with moments of travel, exploring the beauty of solitude and the discovery of new landscapes and people. Encouraging me to take in every beautiful moment, and grasp onto it.

I would love to share my experience and knowledge with your Little Artist, where we can build and create a very special art work for your wall.
